September 2026 – We’re proud to announce seven additional site acquisitions for the ChargeNet network, improving services across the South Island for local EV drivers and tourists alike.
The sites are located in:
- Aoraki / Mt Cook (Bowen Drive)
- Twizel (Twizel Events Centre)
- Tekapo (Tavern Carpark)
- Fairlie (Main Street)
- Geraldine (Cox St Car Park)
- Orari (Orari Station Road)
- Waimate (125 Queen Street)
Previously owned by Alpine Energy, these new sites help strengthen our charging coverage across some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most popular travel destinations.
More charging confidence across South Canterbury
For EV drivers, these chargers won’t be new. They’ve already been visible in the ChargeNet app and available to ChargeNet customers.
What’s new is that ChargeNet now owns and operates the sites, giving us full responsibility for keeping them running smoothly and supporting customers when they need help.
By bringing these locations into the ChargeNet network, we’re creating a more consistent charging experience across the region, ensuring these sites become part of our ongoing maintenance and upgrade programme.
Pricing changes
From 18 September 2026, pricing at these sites will move to ChargeNet’s standard nationwide pricing.
We’ll be in touch with customers ahead of the change and encourage drivers to check the ChargeNet app for the latest pricing information.

From the Mackenzie Basin to South Canterbury, these charging sites help connect communities, support local tourism and enable EV travel through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular landscapes.
