ChargeNet Subscription Plan
Promotional Terms and Conditions 

Effective August 2026. 

These are the promotional terms and conditions for the ChargeNet Subscription Plan (Subscription Terms). They are the promotional terms and conditions referred to in clause 3.4 of the ChargeNet Terms and Conditions (General Terms).

 

 1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 The ChargeNet Subscription Plan (Subscription Plan) is a promotional offer under which you pay a monthly fee to receive a discount on the Tariff for charging at certain Charge Stations. 

 1.2 The Subscription Plan is offered as an early release. ChargeNet may close the Subscription Plan to new subscribers, or withdraw it, at any time. 

 1.3 These Subscription Terms apply in addition to the General Terms, which continue to apply to your use of the Vehicle Charging Services and the Platform. If there is any inconsistency between these Subscription Terms and the General Terms, these Subscription Terms prevail to the extent of that inconsistency. 

 1.4 Words defined in the General Terms have the same meaning in these Subscription Terms, unless stated otherwise. 

 1.5 By submitting a Subscription Request, you agree to these Subscription Terms. 

 

2. DEFINITIONS 

2.1 In these Subscription Terms, unless the context otherwise requires: 

Eligible Charge Station means a Charge Station which, at the time your charging session starts: 

a) is shown on the ‘About’ tab for that Charge Station in the ChargeNet App as ‘Operated by ChargeNet NZ’; and 

b) is a DC fast charger with a rated output of 25 kW or more, which you can identify using the map filter in the ChargeNet App. 

Eligible Session means a charging session that you start at an Eligible Charge Station, using your Account, while you are a Subscriber. 

Subscriber means an individual end user whose Subscription Request ChargeNet has accepted, and whose Subscription Plan has not ended, in accordance with these Subscription Terms. 

Subscription Discount means a discount of $0.10 (including GST) per kWh off the Tariff that would otherwise apply to an Eligible Session. 

Subscription Fee means $10.00 (including GST) for each calendar month. 

Subscription Month means each calendar month for which you have paid the Subscription Fee, and includes the part of a calendar month for which you have paid under clause 6.3. 

Subscription Request means a request to join the Subscription Plan, submitted using the subscription form at https://chargenetnz.typeform.com/subscription. 

 

3. WHO CAN SUBSCRIBE 

3.1 To join the Subscription Plan you must: 

3.1.1 hold an Account as an individual end user; 

3.1.2 have a valid payment method registered to your Account; 

3.1.3 not be a Fleet Customer or a Member; and 

3.1.4 not have partner billing enabled on your Account under clause 6.2(a)(ii) of the General Terms. 

3.2 The Subscription Plan is personal to you and only one Subscription Plan may be held on an Account. You must be the holder of the Account named in your Subscription Request, and you must confirm this when you subscribe. 

3.3 If partner billing is enabled on your Account, you must cancel that arrangement with the relevant third party before you subscribe. You cannot enable partner billing while you hold a Subscription Plan. If you want to move to partner billing, you must first cancel your Subscription Plan, wait until it ends under clause 7.3, and then enable partner billing. 

3.4 ChargeNet may accept or decline a Subscription Request at its reasonable discretion. If you do not qualify, ChargeNet will let you know by email. 

 

4. WHAT YOU RECEIVE 

4.1 While you are a Subscriber, you will receive the Subscription Discount on every Eligible Session. 

4.2 The Subscription Discount does not apply to: 

4.2.1 a charging session at any Charge Station that is not an Eligible Charge Station, including a Charge Station in the Partner Network, an AC Charge Station and a DC Charge Station with a rated output of less than 25 kW; or 

4.2.2 any other amount payable by you, including any idle fee, overstay fee, parking cost or fee for a replacement Physical Token. 

4.3 It is your responsibility to check whether a Charge Station is an Eligible Charge Station before you start a charging session. You can do this in the ChargeNet App by: 

4.3.1 checking the ‘About’ tab for that Charge Station, where it will identify whether the Charge Station is ‘Operated by ChargeNet NZ’ or not; and  

4.3.2 using the map filter to identify DC Charge Stations. 

4.4 Whether a Charge Station is an Eligible Charge Station is determined at the time your charging session starts. Charge Stations may be added to, or removed from, the Eligible Charge Stations at any time and without notice to you. 

4.5 The Subscription Fee is a fee for access to the Subscription Discount. It is not credit, it is not a Voucher, and it is not a payment in advance for the Vehicle Charging Services. The Subscription Discount cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another Account, or applied to a charging session that has already been completed. 

4.6 The Subscription Discount cannot be combined with any other ChargeNet discount, promotion or Voucher unless ChargeNet agrees otherwise in writing. If more than one discount, promotion or Voucher is available in respect of a charging session, ChargeNet will apply the discount, promotion or Voucher that results in the lowest charge payable by you for that charging session.  

 

5. HOW THE PRICE IS SHOWN TO YOU 

5.1 The Subscription Discount is applied after your charging session has ended. This means that: 

5.1.1 the price shown in the ChargeNet App when you are logged in before and during your session will show the discounted Tariff or, where not technically feasible, will show the standard Tariff with an indication that the discount was not yet applied; 

5.1.2 the price shown in the ChargeNet App when you are logged out and at the Charge Station before and during your session will show the standard Tariff, and does not include the Subscription Discount; 

5.1.3 any estimated cost shown while your session is running may reflect the Subscription Discount, where it is technically feasible for ChargeNet to calculate and apply the Subscription Discount at that time; and 

5.1.4 the Subscription Discount is shown in your session summary and in your payment confirmation. 

5.2 If you think the Subscription Discount has not been applied correctly, please tell ChargeNet within 30 days in accordance with clause 6.5 of the General Terms. 

 

6. STARTING AND PAYING FOR YOUR SUBSCRIPTION PLAN 

6.1 To subscribe, complete the subscription form at . You will need to give the email address for your Account and your Account ID, which you can find in the ChargeNet App. 

6.2 ChargeNet will process your Subscription Request as soon as reasonably practicable. Your Subscription Plan starts when ChargeNet has changed the payment plan on your Account and the first Subscription Fee payment under clause 6.3 has been successful. ChargeNet will email you to confirm when your Subscription Plan has started. 

6.3 The first Subscription Fee payment is a pro-rata amount for the remainder of the calendar month in which your Subscription Plan starts. It is calculated on the number of full days left in that month, and rounded to the nearest cent (with half a cent rounded up). 

6.4 After the first Subscription Fee payment, ChargeNet will automatically charge the Subscription Fee on the first day of each Subscription Month in advance for that Subscription Month. 

6.5 You authorise ChargeNet to charge the Subscription Fee to the payment method registered to your Account, in accordance with clause 6.6 of the General Terms. ChargeNet will send you a payment confirmation each time a payment is taken, and the Subscription Fee will appear on your monthly statement. 

6.6 You cannot choose a later start date for your Subscription Plan, and it cannot be backdated. Your Subscription Plan starts in accordance with clause 6.2. 

6.7 If a payment of the Subscription Fee is unsuccessful, ChargeNet may make multiple attempts to process the payment on the relevant due date. If payment remains unsuccessful, your Subscription Plan will end immediately and you will be moved to the standard immediate payment plan and standard Tariffs. You may submit a new Subscription Request at any time. 

6.8 ChargeNet may change the Subscription Fee or the Subscription Discount. If ChargeNet does so, it will give you notice in accordance with clause 3.3 of the General Terms. 

 

7. CANCELLING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION PLAN 

7.1 You may cancel your Subscription Plan at any time by emailing ChargeNet at info@charge.net.nz. 

7.2 A cancellation request received on or before the 24th day of a calendar month takes effect at the end of that month. A cancellation request received after that day takes effect at the end of the following month. 

7.3 Your Subscription Plan continues, and you continue to receive the Subscription Discount, until the date determined in accordance with clause 7.2. From the day after that date you will be moved to the standard immediate payment plan and standard Tariffs. 

7.4 The Subscription Fee for a Subscription Month is not refundable, in whole or in part, including where you have not used the Vehicle Charging Services during that month or have used them less than you expected. This does not affect any right you have under clause 6.5 of the General Terms or under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. 

7.5 If you close your Account, your Subscription Plan ends at the same time. 

7.6 ChargeNet may end your Subscription Plan by giving you 10 days’ notice, or immediately in accordance with clause 8.3 of these Subscription Terms or clause 9.2 of the General Terms. 

 

8. FAIR USE 

8.1 The Subscription Plan is for your own use, as the driver of a vehicle you own, control or are authorised to use. ChargeNet considers your use of the Subscription Plan to be unreasonable if you use it in a way other than it was intended for. The following are examples of use that ChargeNet considers unreasonable. This list is not exhaustive: 

8.1.1 using your Account to give the benefit of the Subscription Discount to anyone other than yourself, a direct family member or a member of your household; 

8.1.2 making the Vehicle Charging Services available for use by a third party, whether or not for profit; 

8.1.3 reselling the Vehicle Charging Services, or charging any person for access to them; 

8.1.4 using more than one Account, or any other method, to obtain more than one Subscription Discount for the same charging session or the same vehicle; 

8.1.5 charging volumes materially greater than a single driver would be expected to use, as reasonably determined by ChargeNet; 

8.1.6 using the Vehicle Charging Services for any fraudulent purpose, or manipulating or attempting to bypass any limit or restriction that applies to them; or 

8.1.7 using the Vehicle Charging Services in a way that breaches the General Terms or any law. 

8.2 If ChargeNet suspects that your use of the Subscription Plan is unreasonable, ChargeNet may investigate and may ask you for information about your use. 

8.3 If ChargeNet considers, acting reasonably, that your use is unreasonable or that you are not using the Subscription Plan for the purpose it is intended for, ChargeNet may stop applying the Subscription Discount, end your Subscription Plan immediately and/or exercise any of its rights under clause 9.2 of the General Terms. ChargeNet will notify you if it does so. 

 

9. GENERAL 

9.1 ChargeNet may change these Subscription Terms. If ChargeNet does so, it will give you notice in accordance with clause 3.3 of the General Terms. 

9.2 ChargeNet collects and handles the personal information you give in your Subscription Request in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its privacy policy, which is available at www.charge.net.nz/privacy-policy. 

9.3 Nothing in these Subscription Terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded. 

9.4 For the avoidance of doubt, clauses 11 (Complaints Procedure), 13 (Liability) and 14 (General) of the General Terms apply to these Subscription Terms.
